IBPS PO 2017 - Exam Pattern & Selection Process


 

The IBPS PO Prelims Exam 2017 is going to take place from 7th October 2017 as per the official notification. This year, IBPS has made a few changes in the exam pattern of IBPS PO Mains Exam. Knowing the exam pattern and selection procedure is important for a candidate. This article will explain in detail the whole selection process and the exam pattern for Prelims and Mains.

The selection procedure consists of 3 parts, with 2 written papers and a third Interview round.

  1. Preliminary exam
  2. Mains exam
  3. Interview round

The Preliminary exam will be qualifying in nature. (A candidate who fails in the Prelims will not be allowed to write the Mains or take the interview.) The scores of Mains and the Interview will be normalised to 100 and shall be considered for final selection of the candidate.

Now, let’s look at each of the 3 phases in detail.

There will be negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question.

Not clearing the Prelims would mean an early exit for the candidate.

 2. The Mains

This year IBPS has made the pattern of Mains exam similar to that of SBI PO pattern. The IBPS PO Mains 2017 will be consist of 2 parts – Objective Test (200 marks) and Descriptive Test (50 marks). Both the parts will take place online.

Mains - Descriptive Test

The descriptive paper will be of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks assigned to the test of English Language. You will be tested on Letter Writing & Essay Writing. You will be needed to secure passing marks to qualify the Descriptive Test, to be decided by the Bank.

3. The Interview Round

The total marks allotted for Interview is 100. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Main exam) and interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination and Interview.
